Stone and Green Building Case Studies
The Natural Stone Council (NSC) is a collaboration of businesses who have come together to promote the use of natural stone in the built environment. It is comprised of the following industry associations: Allied Stone Industries, Building Stone Institute, Elberton Granite Association, Indiana Limestone Association, Marble Institute of America, National Building Granite Quarriers Association and the Natural Stone Alliance.
In response to the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental (LEED) program, green building has become an integral part of the construction industry. The NSC is working with the University of Tennessee Center for Clean Products (UT) to position genuine stone in the centre of the green building market by testing the environmental impacts and benefits of building with natural stone.
The following publications are courtesy of the Marble Institute of America/Natural Stone Council and highlight the positive attributes of stone and its application as a green building product.
